With our typical US-centric point of view many readers are missing the gems coming out of other parts of the world. Some people might be familiar with Japan and its Manga phenomenon, but how many people think of South America when considering comics? Perla Pilucki is a perfect example of the comic book medium’s global expansion. A native of Argentina, she has been working in the industry for several years, first starting as a background artist and working her way up the food chain.
We interviewed Perla earlier this month, but now we want to focus on her fantastic artwork. What first struck me about her work was the amazing range of illustration. Her work continuously captures the eye whether it’s with paint, ink or in pencil. When in the realm of fantasy Perla’s work bears a strong resemblance to greats like Boris Vallejo and Frank Frazetta.
When checking out her comic book work you’ll notice the clean lines and meticulous attention to detail in her backgrounds. Even though it’s far from the sexiest work in comics, Perla brings all her artistic abilities to bear when producing these killer pages.
Swing by her blog portfolios to check out her latest pieces http://perlapilucki.blogspot.com/ and http://altercomicspilucki.blogspot.com/. Perla’s a rising talent and we can’t wait to see more of her work.
